Waste haulers and dumpster rental: what an AI agent can and can't do with your software
- Last verified
- Updated Published
A small hauling outfit usually runs on a handful of rented systems: dumpster rental or hauler software that holds orders, cans and invoices, maybe a field service app if the business is mostly junk removal, a telematics and ELD account for the trucks, a card processor, QuickBooks, an online booking form and a CRM that sends texts. Below we sort out which of those systems Meta's Muse, or any assistant that works through connectors, can reach today, which office chores it could take over, and which decisions should stay with an owner, dispatcher or driver. It's written for roll-off, dumpster rental and junk removal companies with roughly 1 to 30 trucks. Municipal contracts, landfills and transfer stations, medical or industrial waste and fleet maintenance software are out of scope.
Next to every statement you'll find a tag naming the kind of evidence it rests on:
| Label | Meaning on this page |
|---|---|
| Confirmed by vendor | Meta or the vendor itself states it in a help article, developer documentation or announcement. |
| Confirmed by agency | It comes from a federal regulation, a Federal Register rule or an agency web page, and the badge names that agency. |
| Reported | A third party, for example a rival vendor, put it out; the page says who and why to be careful. |
| Conflicting | Sources point different ways, or the rule is in the middle of a change. |
| Unverified | We looked and found nothing solid enough to cite, so treat it as an open question. |
How we built it: we read hauler software help centers and developer docs, telematics and payment vendors' MCP pages, EPA, FMCSA and OSHA regulations on eCFR, an OSHA web page and an FCC rule in the Federal Register, and each source carries the date we read it. We did not hook Muse or any other assistant up to a real hauler account, telematics fleet, card processor or ledger, did not book a dumpster or send a text, and did not test these tools. Documentation says what a product is meant to do; it can't tell you whether it fits your yard.
Short version
- Of the products on this page, only HighLevel, Stripe and Intuit QuickBooks are named in Meta's launch post as Muse connectors; Meta points to Muse's app settings for the full list, and we haven't looked there. (Confirmed by vendor 1) None of the dumpster rental, hauler, junk removal or telematics products below is on that list.
- CurbWaste runs an MCP server for AI agents that uses the same scoped API keys as its REST API, and it warns that tools can take real actions when a key carries write scopes. (Confirmed by vendor 10) Dumpster Controls runs an MCP server too, documented for Claude: it creates orders, assigns drivers, completes stops and sends invoices only after a confirmation in the chat, and discounts, price changes and cancellations have to be confirmed inside its app. (Confirmed by vendor 34) Docket's help center documents one completion webhook per account, and Hauler Hero's partner API keys have to be requested from the company. (Confirmed by vendor 8 11)
- Samsara says its MCP is read-only and can't send messages, make assignments or alter settings; Motive's MCP includes write tools, among them one that marks a vehicle out of service and one that edits a user's hours-of-service settings. (Confirmed by vendor 19 20) Keep any agent away from anything that touches driver hours.
- EPA rules say a transporter can't haul hazardous waste without an EPA identification number, and can't accept it without a manifest. (Confirmed by the EPA 21) An agent answering booking questions should never tell a customer that paint, solvents or chemicals are fine to toss in the can.
- Starting Nov 25, 2026, the FCC lets a sender pick one exclusive way for people to revoke consent, such as replying with a standard word like "stop," and gives the sender ten business days to honor each revocation. (Confirmed by the FCC 33) Swap and pickup reminder texts fall under this too.
Stack map
| Software | In Meta's launch-post connector list? | How else it connects | Label and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| HighLevel | Yes (Confirmed by vendor 1 6) | HighLevel's Muse connection signs in with OAuth through a dedicated MCP endpoint; you pick which sub-accounts to share and approve scopes. HighLevel says its MCP covers services such as contacts, conversations, calendars, opportunities and payments, and can update data and send messages when the approved access allows. It says connected apps can be reviewed under Settings > Connected Apps. (Confirmed by vendor 6) Zapier has a LeadConnector app, and HighLevel's Muse endpoint sits on the leadconnectorhq.com domain. (Confirmed by vendor 6 18) | Confirmed by vendor 1 6 18 |
| Stripe | Yes (Confirmed by vendor 1) | Stripe hosts its own MCP server and requires a person to confirm certain writes, refunds and outbound payments among them, through a link the agent provides. Starting in December it will reject full-access secret keys and any restricted key lacking the Agent tag, so switch to agent API keys or OAuth before Nov 30, 2026. (Confirmed by vendor 7) | Confirmed by vendor 1 7 |
| QuickBooks Online | Yes (Confirmed by vendor 1 4) | Intuit says the QuickBooks connector is live in Muse and can pull profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet figures, create payment-enabled invoices and send them to customers, and keep an eye on overdue invoices and send payment reminders. (Confirmed by vendor 4) ServiceCore says its QuickBooks Online sync is native and needs neither its API nor its data share. (Confirmed by vendor 12) | Confirmed by vendor 1 4 12 |
| Zapier | Zapier's docs describe connecting it from Muse's Connectors settings; Meta's launch post doesn't name it. (Confirmed by vendor 5) | Zapier is the bridge | Confirmed by vendor 1 5 |
| Docket | No | One outgoing webhook per account, set up by the Account Owner after Docket support switches it on, that fires when a rental task, a task or a whole job is completed. It sends fields such as task number, customer name and email, address, completion date and time, assigned driver, asset type and task type, and Docket says its support team can't help troubleshoot it. (Confirmed by vendor 8) A paid Dumpsters.com add-on on the Pro and Pro+ plans passes brokered orders into Docket and returns order and task status, weight ticket details and photos, with invoice sharing optional; Docket says Dumpsters.com usually doesn't approve haulers with fewer than 3 trucks. (Confirmed by vendor 9) We found no public Docket API documentation or MCP server. (Unverified) | Confirmed by vendor 8 9 |
| CurbWaste | No | An MCP endpoint at api.curbwaste.com/mcp that takes a company API key with only the scopes you pick; the key is shown once, when it's created. Tools search customers, orders and locations, list price lists, create e-commerce and draft orders, terminate routing orders, list drivers and routes, and read invoices (every invoice tool uses the invoices:read scope). An optional Reports feature runs read-only SQL queries. (Confirmed by vendor 10) | Confirmed by vendor 10 |
| Hauler Hero | No | Partner APIs for customer accounts and billing and for scale weight tickets, called with a HERO-API-KEY header; the keys come from your Hauler Hero account manager or its integrations team. (Confirmed by vendor 11) We found no Hauler Hero MCP server. (Unverified) | Confirmed by vendor 11 |
| ServiceCore | No | A REST API that reads and writes records and a read-only Snowflake data share, both on a 12-month commitment. Its API article, written for portable sanitation companies, puts a custom integration at $10,000 to $50,000 or more. (Confirmed by vendor 12) | Confirmed by vendor 12 |
| Dumpster Controls | No | Free dumpster and junk removal software with a REST API you request in Settings and the company approves. Keys are scoped to your company and shown once, the API reads orders, customers and estimates and accepts new leads, and signed webhooks fire on new orders, status changes and payments. The company says the API can't refund, charge or change prices, and it publishes a recipe for sending HighLevel funnel leads in. (Confirmed by vendor 13) A separate remote MCP server at mcp.dumpstercontrols.io/mcp signs in with OAuth as an office user (owner, admin, supervisor or dispatcher), stays inside that user's company, and shows only the tools the user's role and the granted permissions allow. Its read-only tools look up orders, invoices, dumpster sizes with list prices and units available, customers, drivers and an order's landfill weight, cost and receipt; admins and supervisors can also read what was paid, refunded and owed on an order and the money received and refunded per day. Changes go through a proposal and then your confirmation in the chat: create an order at your price list (with its invoice and delivery task), create or edit a customer, complete a delivery, pickup or landfill step (the customer is notified), assign or reassign a task's driver and truck (the driver gets a push notification and an SMS), change an order's dates, service address, debris type, notes or pre-delivery size but never its price, and send or resend an invoice by email or SMS. Discounts, price changes and cancellations only return a link that someone signed in to the app must confirm, and the company says the connector never charges a card, issues a refund or moves money. It accepts only verified clients and refuses open dynamic registration; its pages name Claude, with a ChatGPT app in review. (Confirmed by vendor 34) Dumpster Controls' pages don't mention Muse, and we didn't test whether Muse can connect to it as a custom connector. (Unverified) | Confirmed by vendor 13 34 |
| Soft-Pak | No | API-Pak exchanges billing, customer service and routing data with outside applications; details come from your Soft-Pak account rep. (Confirmed by vendor 14) | Confirmed by vendor 14 |
| AMCS (including former TRUX products) | No | AMCS says TRUX's hauling software has been folded into AMCS Platform, and AMCS publishes REST API documentation for the platform. (Confirmed by vendor 15) | Confirmed by vendor 15 |
| Routeware, Navusoft, Starlight | No | We found no public developer documentation, MCP server or Zapier app for these three; ask each vendor directly what it offers. (Unverified) | Unverified |
| Jobber | No | Jobber, which markets a junk removal edition, has a connector for Claude and ChatGPT on its Core, Connect, Grow and Plus plans. It signs in without an API key, can look up clients, requests, quotes, jobs and invoices, can create requests, clients and quotes, but can't create or edit jobs or invoices, delete anything or change the schedule. Jobber also says browser automation agents are blocked at its login. (Confirmed by vendor 16) Jobber's article doesn't mention Muse, and we didn't test it as a Muse custom connector. (Unverified) Jobber has a Zapier app. (Confirmed by vendor 18) | Confirmed by vendor 16 18 |
| Workiz | No | A Developer API add-on, turned on from the Feature center, issues named v2 keys with an optional expiration date and Read or Read & Write access per resource, such as jobs, leads, clients, invoices and estimates. The key is visible only once and can be rotated or deleted. Workiz also markets a junk removal edition. (Confirmed by vendor 17) Workiz has a Zapier app. (Confirmed by vendor 18) We found no Workiz-built MCP server for account data. (Unverified) | Confirmed by vendor 17 18 |
| Samsara | No | A generally available MCP server, signed into with your Samsara login, that answers questions about vehicles, drivers, hours of service, inspection reports, routes and fuel but can't change anything, and only shows what that user's dashboard permissions allow. (Confirmed by vendor 19) | Confirmed by vendor 19 |
| Motive | No | A 32-tool MCP that only fleet admin accounts can connect. Most tools read, but six write, including sending driver messages, creating geofences, editing vehicles (out of service included) and editing users' roles and hours-of-service settings. Motive says any connected admin currently sees the whole fleet because per-user scoping isn't live yet. (Confirmed by vendor 20) | Confirmed by vendor 20 |
If you want a custom connector
Any tool Meta doesn't list needs someone to build the link: Zapier's MCP, an MCP the vendor runs itself (CurbWaste, Dumpster Controls and Samsara each have one), or custom code against the vendor's API or webhooks. Meta's help center says custom connector credentials sit in Muse's Secure Credentials Store, that Meta does not vet custom connectors or their handling of your data, that many connectors can be set to retrieve information only, and that what Muse learned may stay in its memories and your conversation history after you disconnect. (Confirmed by vendor 2) Meta's builder guidelines require approval each time a sensitive write tool runs, with no Always allow option, and say Meta is not, for now, approving new tools for moving money between financial accounts. (Confirmed by vendor 3) For a hauler, a sensible setup is one connector per system, read-only at first, with a login or key limited to the data that task requires.
Jobs you could hand off today
| Task | Where it runs | What the vendor documents | Label and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turn web and phone inquiries into draft bookings for the office to confirm | CurbWaste MCP, Jobber connector, or Dumpster Controls' API or MCP | CurbWaste has tools that validate an address, match a caller's described site to saved locations and create a draft order. (Confirmed by vendor 10) Jobber's connector can turn a work order email into a request. (Confirmed by vendor 16) Dumpster Controls accepts new leads through its API. (Confirmed by vendor 13) Its MCP prices a proposed order from your price list, checks stock, flags a likely duplicate, and creates nothing until you confirm. (Confirmed by vendor 34) | Confirmed by vendor 10 16 13 34 |
| Remind customers about swaps and pickups | HighLevel in Muse, triggered from your hauler software | HighLevel's help center says its MCP can send messages when the access granted allows it. (Confirmed by vendor 6) Docket's completion webhook and Dumpster Controls' status-change webhook can start a follow-up in another tool. (Confirmed by vendor 8 13) Have a person approve the wording, and follow the texting rules below. | Confirmed by vendor 6 8 13 |
| Chase unpaid invoices | QuickBooks connector in Muse | Intuit says the connector can watch for overdue invoices and remind customers to pay. (Confirmed by vendor 4) | Confirmed by vendor 4 |
| Flag cans that are past their rental period | CurbWaste MCP or Reports MCP, or Dumpster Controls' MCP, read-only | CurbWaste's tools find a customer's live orders and open invoices, and its Reports tools run read-only queries. (Confirmed by vendor 10) Dumpster Controls' order list flags late pickups. (Confirmed by vendor 34) We found no vendor page describing an agent that writes overdue-rental notices; draft them for a person to send. (Unverified) | Confirmed by vendor 10 34 |
| Ask finished customers for a review | HighLevel in Muse | HighLevel's Muse connection covers contacts and conversations. (Confirmed by vendor 6) Send requests only to customers whose job is complete, and never write reviews for them. | Confirmed by vendor 6 |
| Answer "where's my driver?" from the office | Samsara MCP, read-only | Samsara's MCP covers fleet visibility, routes, dispatch and locations without being able to change them. (Confirmed by vendor 19) | Confirmed by vendor 19 |
We haven't run any of these. Results depend on your plan, your user roles and how each connector is configured, so start with a few orders or customers and have someone check what the agent produces.
Keep these out
- Dispatch and route changes. CurbWaste's MCP can create routing draft orders and terminate routing orders. (Confirmed by vendor 10) Motive's write tools can take a truck out of service, message drivers and change a user's hours-of-service and ELD settings. (Confirmed by vendor 20) Dumpster Controls' MCP can assign drivers, move dates and service addresses and mark stops complete once you confirm in the chat; an assignment sends the driver a push notification and an SMS, and a completed stop notifies the customer. (Confirmed by vendor 34) Jobber's connector can't add, edit or remove schedule items. (Confirmed by vendor 16) A changed stop can push a driver past the limits in the next section, so a dispatcher should make every change.
- Weight and overage disputes. ServiceCore describes charging a customer's card for extras such as mattresses, tires, concrete, weight overages and rentals that ran long. (Confirmed by vendor 12) Docket can pass net weights, ticket numbers and images, dump locations and photos to Dumpsters.com. (Confirmed by vendor 9) An agent can pull the ticket, but a person should decide what to charge or credit.
- Refunds and charges. Stripe's MCP holds refunds and outbound payments until a person approves them. (Confirmed by vendor 7) Dumpster Controls keeps charges, refunds and price changes out of its API altogether. (Confirmed by vendor 13) Its MCP can prepare a discount, a new price or a cancellation with its refund breakdown, but the change, refund included, happens only when someone confirms it signed in to the app. (Confirmed by vendor 34) Keep that confirmation with the owner or an admin.
- Saying yes to hazardous or regulated material. Whether a load is accepted is a call for a trained person, not a booking bot; see the EPA rules below.
- Permits. We didn't check any city's or state's rules on dumpster placement permits, hauler licenses or disposal for this page. (Unverified) Keep permit applications and right-of-way questions with the owner.
Risks to keep a person on
Hazardous waste in the can
Under 40 CFR 262.11, anyone who generates a solid waste must accurately determine whether it is hazardous waste. Section 262.14 lets very small quantity generators skip most hazardous waste rules, but only while they meet its conditions, including that determination. (Confirmed by the EPA 23) Household waste, defined to cover garbage and trash from homes, hotels, motels and campgrounds, is excluded from hazardous waste. (Confirmed by the EPA 22) Part 263 applies to transport that requires a manifest. A transporter needs an EPA identification number, may not accept hazardous waste without a manifest, and is cautioned that DOT's hazardous materials rules also fully apply. (Confirmed by the EPA 21) We didn't read DOT's hazardous materials regulations for this page. (Unverified) Commercial cleanouts are where this matters most: a booking agent shouldn't promise that a shop's drums, paint or solvents can ride along.
The universal waste rules give an alternative set of standards for batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment, lamps and aerosol cans. Household and very small quantity generator wastes of those types may optionally be managed under them, and once mixed with regulated universal waste they must be. (Confirmed by the EPA 24)Fridges, freezers and air conditioners
The final processor of a small appliance, such as a scrap recycler or landfill, must either recover any refrigerant left in it or verify recovery with a signed statement or contract; a signed statement has to give the name and address of whoever recovered the refrigerant and the date. (Confirmed by the EPA 25) Junk removal crews hauling appliances should expect the scrap yard or landfill to ask for that paperwork, and an agent shouldn't fill it in.
Drivers, licenses and hours
The FMCSA's safety rules in subchapter B cover employers, drivers and vehicles in interstate commerce, while the commercial driver's license rules in part 383 apply to interstate and intrastate driving alike. (Confirmed by the FMCSA 26) We didn't check state rules for haulers that only run within one state. (Unverified) Drug and alcohol testing covers drivers who need a CDL, and an owner-operator who is the only driver must follow both the employer and driver rules and sit in a random testing pool of two or more. (Confirmed by the FMCSA 27)
A property-carrying driver needs 10 hours off duty before driving, can't drive once 14 hours have passed since coming on duty, may drive 11 hours in that window and needs a 30-minute break after 8 hours of driving unless a short-haul exception applies. The short-haul exception drops the log requirement for drivers who stay within 150 air-miles, are released within 14 hours, get 10 hours off between shifts, and whose carrier keeps accurate time records for 6 months. (Confirmed by the FMCSA 28) Most roll-off routes are local, so an extra stop added late in the day can break the 14-hour release that the exception depends on. An assistant that can reassign stops, such as Dumpster Controls' MCP, should do so only after the dispatcher has checked the new driver's hours.
Every motor carrier must systematically inspect, repair and maintain the vehicles it controls and keep parts in safe operating condition. (Confirmed by the FMCSA 29) An agent can remind someone that an inspection is due; it shouldn't clear a truck for service.
Crushing hazards and compactors
OSHA's waste management page reports that in 2008 the Waste Management and Remediation Services industry had 20.3 deaths per 100,000 full-time workers, over five times the rate for all industries, with nearly 60% related to transportation, and points to its December 2003 bulletin on crushing hazards around dumpsters and rear-loading trucks. (Confirmed by OSHA 31) Those figures are old, and the page gives no newer ones. OSHA's lockout/tagout standard covers servicing and maintenance of machines where an unexpected start-up or stored energy release could hurt employees, and excludes construction and agriculture work. (Confirmed by OSHA 30) Compactor service and roll-off hoist repairs belong with trained staff and written procedures, not a chat thread.
Reminder and marketing texts
Under the FCC's rule, autodialed or prerecorded-voice calls to a cell number require the recipient's prior express consent, which must be in writing when the call advertises or telemarkets. (Confirmed by the FCC 32) From Nov 25, 2026, a sender may name one exclusive opt-out method: a key-press option during a call, a standard reply word ("stop," "revoke," "unsubscribe" and the like), or a website or phone line the sender chooses, and it has to clearly tell people about that method in the call or text itself. A sender that names none must accept any reasonable way of revoking. The sender then has ten business days to honor a revocation. An opt-out in reply to an informational text, like a swap reminder, may be treated as covering only that kind of message, while an opt-out from a marketing text ends all marketing from that sender. A confirmation text is allowed if it only confirms the opt-out and carries no promotional content. (Confirmed by the FCC 33) Don't let an agent change your opt-out keywords, add numbers to a marketing list or turn service reminders into promotions.
Treat this page as a summary of published sources, not as legal, safety, environmental or compliance advice. Your state and city, the landfills and transfer stations you use and your customer contracts may impose further obligations not covered here.
FAQ
Can Muse connect to Docket?
Docket isn't among the connectors named in Meta's launch post. Docket's help center describes a completion webhook that can feed tools like Zapier or Make. (Confirmed by vendor 1 8) Dumpster Controls, a competitor, says that as of August 2026 it found no public, documented, openly requestable API from Docket, DRS or iCANS. (Reported 13)
Which telematics MCP is safer to start with?
Samsara describes its MCP as read-only and limited to the connecting user's permissions; Motive's writes run as the connected fleet admin, who currently sees the whole fleet. (Confirmed by vendor 19 20) Either way, start with questions, not changes.
Can an agent quote a dumpster price?
CurbWaste's MCP can read price lists and the SKUs on a customer's price list. (Confirmed by vendor 10) Dumpster Controls' MCP reads each active size's list price and prices a proposed order from the company price list, with tax and fees shown before you confirm. (Confirmed by vendor 34) Weight limits, overage rates and prohibited items vary by yard and landfill, so have a person confirm every quote before it reaches the customer.
What does Zapier cost here?
Each successful MCP tool call through Zapier uses two tasks from your plan. (Confirmed by vendor 5)Changes to this page
