Roofing contractors: what an AI agent can and can't do with your software
- Last verified
- Updated Published
Who this is for: owners, sales reps, production managers and office staff at roofing companies, whether you do retail reroofs, storm and insurance work, or both. Roofers lean on a few kinds of software that other trades rarely touch: aerial measurement reports, insurance claim estimating, and canvassing tools. This guide sorts out which of them an AI agent can get into today and which decisions should never leave a person's hands. Muse, Meta's agent with a small-business mode, is the reference point for now.
Every claim below shows where we read it and on what date.
How to read the status labels
| Label | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Confirmed by vendor | We read it on the software company's or Meta's own pages: docs, help center, blog or release. |
| Confirmed by the [agency] | We read it from the federal or state agency that issued it, on its own site or in its regulation text, and the badge names that agency. |
| Reported | It comes from a third party, such as a directory or news outlet, and the vendor hasn't said it. |
| Conflicting | Two sources disagree. We show both. |
| Unverified | Open question, or a source no agency on our checked list stands behind. |
None of this was tried by us. A vendor's description of a feature is not a test. More on our process: how we check.
The short version
- No roofing-specific product is a built-in Muse connector. AccuLynx, JobNimbus, Roofr, Leap, RoofSnap, EagleView, Hover, Xactimate and CompanyCam are all missing from Meta's Sept 29 list. QuickBooks, HighLevel, Dropbox and Box are on it. (Confirmed by vendor 1)
- Several roofing tools publish real APIs: AccuLynx and JobNimbus (API keys), EagleView (measurement orders and property data) and Hover (measurements and exports). (Confirmed by vendor 5 9 15 16) Roofr, by contrast, issues a key only for Zapier, according to an independent API directory. (Reported 12)
- CompanyCam's beta MCP server is the most agent-ready piece of a typical roofing stack, and CompanyCam's own example prompts are about reroofs and flashing photos. (Confirmed by vendor 19) Muse isn't among its named clients. (Unverified)
- JobNimbus is testing its own in-app assistant, Scout, in closed beta. (Confirmed by vendor 10)
- The hard limits are on the roof and around insurance claims. Fall protection, heat plans and anything that looks like negotiating a homeowner's claim stay with people.
Stack map
Roofing CRMs and production software
| Tool | Built-in Muse connector? | Other route | Status and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| AccuLynx | No | A REST API with key authentication. An admin creates the key, each company location needs its own, and AccuLynx says anyone holding a key can expose or change company data. Keys come with the AppConnections add-on, which also unlocks prebuilt connections. AccuLynx support won't coach API use, and it points less technical users to Zapier instead. Third-party MCP gateways advertise AccuLynx actions using your key; one says it isn't made or endorsed by AccuLynx and stores data in Australia. We found no AccuLynx-built MCP server. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . API: Confirmed by vendor 5 6 . Gateway: Reported 7 . Official MCP: Unverified |
| JobNimbus | No | An open REST API. You create a key in settings, and it carries the permissions of the access profile you attach to it. JobNimbus advises against building a custom integration without coding experience. Scout, its built-in assistant, lets field staff create and update jobs, contacts, tasks, notes and messages by voice or text, but it is a closed beta with a waitlist. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . API: Confirmed by vendor 9 . Scout: Confirmed by vendor 10 |
| Roofr | No | Roofr's Zapier app fires on Instant Estimator leads, ordered reports, workflow stage changes and proposals that are sent, viewed, signed or lost. Its one Zapier action creates a job and customer. An independent directory says Roofr publishes no general developer API and that the only key it hands out is for Zapier. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . Zapier: Confirmed by vendor 11 . No public API: Reported 12 |
| Leap (Leap CRM and SalesPro) | No | Leap's help center shows how to generate an API token under Developers in Leap CRM settings. The SalesPro API docs asked us to sign in, so we couldn't read them. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . Token: Confirmed by vendor 13 . SalesPro API details: Unverified |
| ServiceTitan (roofing edition) | No | ServiceTitan sells a roofing version and says it builds in AI for invoice summaries, emails and collections flags. It also orders GAF QuickMeasure reports inside the job (see below). The ServiceTitan API is covered in our HVAC and plumbing guide. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . Roofing features: Confirmed by vendor 17 |
| RoofSnap | No | RoofSnap's API terms describe keys it issues to partners, starting with a sandbox key, under a license it can suspend. Its integrations page names AccuLynx and MarketSharp. We found no public endpoint docs. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . Terms and integrations: Confirmed by vendor 14 . Public docs: Unverified |
Aerial measurement reports
| Service | Built-in Muse connector? | Other route | Status and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| EagleView | No | The Measurement Orders API places orders for roof or wall reports, tracks status, handles changes and returns files (PDF, XML, JSON, DXF, JPG), with webhooks when an order completes. EagleView names roofing and siding contractors as an intended audience. A separate Property Data API returns roof area, pitch, condition and hail or wildfire scores, with a free sandbox and a 30-property trial. Sign-in is OAuth client credentials. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . APIs: Confirmed by vendor 15 |
| Hover | No | Team admins can create a custom integration in Hover settings, and Hover says that includes Starter plans that have API access. Exports include JSON measurements, a roof-lines file, XLSX, and an ESX file for Xactimate. Listing on Hover's marketplace takes a separate partner review. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . API: Confirmed by vendor 16 |
| GAF QuickMeasure | No | ServiceTitan's help center shows ordering QuickMeasure reports from a ServiceTitan job using your GAF account email, then mapping fields such as roof area into an estimate template. We found no GAF developer docs, and GAF's own partner page blocked us. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . ServiceTitan route: Confirmed by vendor 17 . GAF API: Unverified |
| Roofr reports | No | "Roofr Report Ordered" is a Zapier trigger, so an automation can react when someone orders one. Zapier lists no action that pulls the report's numbers. | Confirmed by vendor 11 |
Insurance claim estimating
| Tool | Built-in Muse connector? | Other route | Status and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xactimate and XactAnalysis (Verisk) | No | Verisk's developer portal frames XactAnalysis as the network carriers use to send assignments to adjusters, adjusting firms and service providers, with status updates, notes, photos and webhooks along the way. Xactimate APIs cover line item import and pricing, and third-party tools can send measurements and sketches in. These are partner integrations built around the carrier's claim, not a shortcut for a roofer's own agent. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . APIs: Confirmed by vendor 18 |
Photos, money and files
| Tool | Built-in Muse connector? | Other route | Status and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| CompanyCam | No | CompanyCam runs an MCP server in beta (MCP is the protocol many AI assistants use to talk to outside apps), web app only. You pick a read-only or read-and-write token, and the clients CompanyCam documents are Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. With write access it can set up projects, checklists, customers and proposals. A separate integration creates a CompanyCam project whenever an AccuLynx lead or job is assigned to a rep, then syncs photos, videos, files and tags back to AccuLynx. Checklists only make it across as exported PDFs. | Not on Meta's list: Confirmed by vendor 1 . MCP: Confirmed by vendor 19 . AccuLynx sync: Confirmed by vendor 20 . Works in Muse: Unverified |
| Homeowner financing (AccuFi, Hearth) | No | AccuLynx's AccuFi runs pre-qualification and loan status from inside the job file. Hearth sends a financing link from a quote, contract or invoice. We found no agent route for either, and GreenSky had nothing we could source. | AccuFi: Confirmed by vendor 8 . Hearth: Confirmed by vendor 21 . Agent route: Unverified |
| QuickBooks | Yes | n/a | Confirmed by vendor 1 4 |
| HighLevel (marketing and lead follow-up) | Yes | n/a | Confirmed by vendor 1 |
| Dropbox or Box (inspection photos, warranty papers, signed contracts) | Yes | n/a | Confirmed by vendor 1 |
About custom connectors: Muse can walk you through building a connector for a service that isn't built in, and Meta states that it doesn't review those connectors. (Confirmed by vendor 2) So an AccuLynx or JobNimbus key wired up that way gives the agent whatever that key can do. Make a dedicated integration user with narrow permissions first.
Jobs you could hand off today (per vendor docs)
| Job | Tool | What the vendor says | Status and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Set up a new reroof project with your inspection checklist and crew | CompanyCam MCP (outside Muse) | "Create the Maple St reroof, add our standard inspection checklist" is a CompanyCam example prompt | Confirmed by vendor 19 . In Muse: Unverified |
| Check which photos show finished flashing before closeout | CompanyCam MCP (outside Muse) | CompanyCam says the assistant looks at the photos themselves, not only their file names | Confirmed by vendor 19 . In Muse: Unverified |
| Rough out a proposal from your price book for a person to review | CompanyCam MCP (outside Muse) | Drafting a proposal from Price Book line items is a listed example | Confirmed by vendor 19 . In Muse: Unverified |
| Alert the office when a homeowner signs or views a proposal | Roofr through Zapier (automation, not an agent) | Proposal Signed and Proposal Viewed are instant triggers | Confirmed by vendor 11 |
| Remind customers about overdue invoices and look at cash flow | QuickBooks in Muse | Intuit's examples: nudging customers on overdue invoices, plus P&L and cash-flow reports | Confirmed by vendor 4 |
Meta's guidelines require a per-action confirmation for sensitive actions, and say Meta isn't taking new connectors that move money for now. (Confirmed by vendor 3) In a roofing company, count ordering measurement reports (they cost money per address), sending proposals, texting homeowners and anything touching a claim as sensitive.
Keep these out
- Talking to the insurer for the homeowner. Messages that argue scope with an adjuster or promise "we'll handle your claim" can cross into public adjusting, which states license (see below).
- Loan offers. The CFPB tells homeowners not to simply accept a contractor's lender referral and to shop other lenders. (Confirmed by the CFPB 25) Let the agent send the financing link your provider gives you, and leave rates and terms to the provider.
- Auto-ordering paid reports. EagleView's API can place orders and request changes to them without anyone opening the web portal. (Confirmed by vendor 15) Have a person confirm each address before money is spent.
- Over-broad keys. An AccuLynx key can expose or change company data, and a JobNimbus key gets every permission in its access profile. (Confirmed by vendor 5 9)
- Payroll and tax work. Intuit's Muse connector leaves payroll and taxes out. (Confirmed by vendor 4)
Roof safety, storm work, insurance, consent and data
- Falls. OSHA calls falls the leading cause of death in construction, citing BLS data of 389 fatal falls to a lower level among 1,034 construction deaths in 2024. It tells employers to price safety equipment into the job estimate and, for roofing, to plan around holes, skylights and leading edges. Each worker who ties off to an anchor needs their own harness. (Confirmed by OSHA 22) In construction, OSHA requires fall protection at six feet. (Confirmed by OSHA 23) If an agent drafts estimates, keep the fall protection line in, and never let it trim that line to win a bid.
- Heat. OSHA names roofing among the outdoor construction work where heat illness happens, and says workers new to the heat need time to acclimatize. It suggests changing workloads and schedules, and its campaign line is "Water. Rest. Shade." (Confirmed by OSHA 24) An agent that builds crew schedules shouldn't pack new hires into full afternoon tear-offs during a heat wave.
- Storm chasing and post-disaster fraud. The CFPB warns disaster-hit homeowners against hiring someone going door to door or from out of state, and advises two or three written bids, no upfront payment without a signed contract, and checking the contractor with the state licensing board and attorney general. It also tells them to ask their insurer and mortgage servicer how claim money will be paid out. (Confirmed by the CFPB 25) In a September 2025 fact sheet for Central Texas flood survivors, FEMA says it does not license or certify contractors, and tells homeowners to beware of contractors who ask for large payments up front to buy materials. (Confirmed by FEMA 26) The FTC publishes its own storm-scam advice, but its pages didn't load for us. (Unverified) For a legitimate roofer, this means storm-response texts and canvassing scripts written by an agent should invite homeowners to check you out, and never pressure them to sign that day.
- Public adjusting and assignment of benefits (check your state). Iowa's Insurance Division tells contractors, including their agents and employees, not to negotiate an insured's claim, review a homeowner's insurance contract, or advise on its provisions, including demanding appraisal. It treats this as unlicensed public adjusting under Iowa Code chapter 522C, which can bring administrative action and criminal sanctions. (Confirmed by the Iowa Insurance Division 27) The Texas Department of Insurance says that under Texas law, contractors can't advertise that they'll handle your insurance claim, and a public adjuster who works on your claim can't act as your contractor. (Confirmed by the Texas Department of Insurance 28) Outside Iowa and Texas we haven't sourced the public adjuster rules, and rules on assignment of benefits, where the homeowner signs claim rights over to the contractor, differ by state. We found no single source to cite. (Unverified) Check with your state insurance department before any agent writes about claims.
- Door knocking and the Cooling-Off Rule. The FTC's Cooling-Off Rule (16 CFR Part 429) covers sales of $25 or more made at the buyer's home, including ones that follow the buyer's invitation. The buyer can cancel until midnight of the third business day after the sale. The seller must give a dated contract or receipt in the language of the sales pitch, with the cancellation notice and a completed cancellation form in duplicate, explain the right out loud, and refund within 10 business days. One exception fits storm work: a buyer who calls you for a genuine emergency can waive the right, but only in a separate dated and signed statement in the buyer's own handwriting. (Confirmed by the FTC 31) Many cities also require door-to-door solicitor permits; check yours. (Unverified) Before an agent emails a signing link to someone your rep met on their porch, have your attorney confirm what cancellation notice must ride along.
- Texting homeowners (FCC). Under FCC rules, an autodialed text to a mobile number needs the person's prior consent. Marketing texts need written consent, for informational texts a spoken yes is enough, and a homeowner may withdraw consent by any reasonable means. (Confirmed by the FCC 29) A homeowner who talked to a canvasser hasn't automatically agreed to marketing texts. Log consent before an agent follows up.
- Customer and claim data. The SBA advises training staff to protect customer information, using multi-factor authentication, limiting each person's access, backing up data, and cutting off former employees. (Confirmed by the SBA 30) Roofing files often hold claim numbers, policy details and photos of the house. Keep them out of agent chats unless the task needs them.

FAQ
Can Muse pull my EagleView or Hover measurements? Not as a built-in. Both publish APIs that a developer could wrap in a custom connector. (Confirmed by vendor 1 15 16) We found no public report of anyone connecting either to Muse.
Can an agent write my Xactimate estimate or supplement? Verisk's APIs are built for carriers, adjusters and partner software working inside a claim. (Confirmed by vendor 18) Supplements also edge toward the claim negotiation that states regulate, so keep a person on them.
Is JobNimbus Scout the same thing as Muse? No. Scout runs inside the JobNimbus app and is in closed beta. (Confirmed by vendor 10) Muse is Meta's separate agent, and JobNimbus isn't on its connector list.
Can an agent knock doors or run canvassing for me? No. It can draft scripts and follow-up messages, but the FCC consent rules and your local solicitor rules still apply to whatever it sends.
